The Women’s Health Conference, formerly known as Mikey Hoeven’s Women’s Wellness Expo, returns to the Best Western Ramkota in Bismarck on Monday, September 30th. As always, the conference will feature a day packed with practical and timely information for women to use in their everyday lives.

“We are focused on women’s health,” said committee chair Mary Ann Foss, retired director of Women’s Way (italic) of North Dakota. “Women are most often the influential household decision makers regarding health care. The conference will challenge attendees to new health goals and empower them with tools and resources.”

Polly Pitchford, the morning keynote speaker, brings a wealth of information in both fields of health food and fitness. She speaks nationally on the subject of healthy eating, fitness and fun to corporate America. She will specifically talk about rediscovering your vitality and what to do when energy levels are low by addressing modest nutritional changes, giving the audience exercises that can revive a mid-day slump and stress reducers.

The breakout sessions will feature Melissa Olson and Melanie Carvell presenting a Get Fit Tool Kit. Olson and Carvell will give you the latest and greatest in the world of fitness, from gadgets and apps designed to assist in your nutrition and physical activity goals, to simple, fresh ideas for jump-starting your fitness routine.

Another breakout speaker is Sally May who will encourage you to ‘Take a Starring Role in your Health Care’. Every woman is in control of their own medical drama and it is important to have the knowledge, skills and confidence to take an active role in your own health care.

The afternoon keynote, Colette Carlson, learned her message the hard way. She started out a big, fat liar, and only by telling herself the truth (on herself) was she able to break through her fears, lose 50 pounds and take healthy risks. Carlson injects humor into her message of self-awareness and stress reduction.

The Women’s Health Conference will encourage and empower women to take control of their own health first, so they can be the caretakers of their household’s well-being.
