Every logo and label is the creative work of a graphic designer; a person the consumer rarely sees. Sara Streifel of Think Creative Design in Bismarck has been in the background for 14 years, content with the reward of happy clients and a paycheck. The Bismarck woman designs promotional materials for brands familiar to most people: the NHL, NBC, Warner Bros. Studio, Heineken, Coors Light, and Hangar 1 Vodka, to name a few.
“Hangar 1 Vodka was the first spirit label I had done in my career, so I was excited and nervous about the challenge; the client and I worked together and the brand became very successful,” Sara says.
Sara notes seeing a row of Hangar 1 Vodka bottles — bearing her label — behind actor George Clooney in an “Ocean’s 11” bar scene. They have also appeared in a Pottery Barn display.
She has spotted her work on TV, such as the “hockey stick hat” she designed for the NHL and the 50th anniversary commemorative silver coin NBC commissioned as a gift for employees.
Sara works with clients all over the country and some of her designs end up in Hollywood; she has created custom promotional materials for movies including “Lego Movie 2” and “Ready Player One.” She designed a gauntlet-style oven mitt for “Avengers Infinity Wars” and a board game — the board, money, playing pieces, and cards — for “Game Night.”
“I feel pretty fortunate to work on some amazing projects. With the right connections, my name has gotten out there, and I’m proud of what I have established.”
