Photographer Kari BarchengerNorth Dakota photographer Kari Barchenger has turned her camera in a new direction with the release of The International Peace Garden, Promise of Peace.  Her 88-page full color book is a collection of images of the International Peace Garden. It is the first ever photo collection to feature the International Peace Garden in its’ 84-year history.

Inspiration to produce her new book came after 30 years of photographing weddings, students, and corporate Book Coverleaders. When she joined her father, Arthur Norby, in the delivery of his new sculpture, Promise of Peace, to the International Peace Garden in 2015, she found a new world of color. The International Peace Garden contains over 75,000 flowering shrubs, perennials, and bulbs as well as some 6,500 cacti and succulents. Barchenger has chosen an array of floral images, backed up by photos of historic buildings and monuments.

Barchenger’s book is available in numerous North Dakota locations and can also be ordered on her website, www.mfphotos.net. The book will be formally released with a book signing at the International Peace Garden on July 24. Her father’s Promise of Peace sculpture will be dedicated that same day.

The International Peace Garden is located north of Dunseith, North Dakota and  South of Boissevain, Manitoba.
